A spokesman at Nippon Sheet Glass Co. said 10 January 2006 that there had been no developments in takeover talks between the Japanese glass maker and the UK“s Pilkington PLC. Previously, it was reported that Pilkington was preparing to issue a statement announcing the failure of the takeover talks with NSG. A report in the Sunday Telegraph on 8 January 2006 said the Pilkington board was considering making an announcement in the following 10 days, as NSG appeared to be reconsidering its interest in the company. The NSG spokesman declined to comment directly on the UK report. But he said that there had been no change in the situation since mid-December 2005, when NSG said in a statement it regretted that Pilkington“s Board had rejected its revised takeover proposal and that the Japanese company was reviewing its position.
