28 January 1999: Japan“s Nippon Electric Glass recently developed a new adhesive sealant glass that can be used to seal ceramic and other types of packages, at the low temperature of 280C. The company is expected to begin mass production of the glass product sometime in 1999. The base of the newly developed glass is silver/phosphoric acid glass, which has a low melting point. The product also includes ceramic material, which is used to alter and adjust the glass“s properties. The result is a glass for which sealing can be achieved at about 40C lower than that of conventional adhesive glass. The company plans to embark on mass production at a level of around one ton/month.
