Japan“s Nihon Yamamura Glass Co. is to add a new furnace to boost output at the bottle plant it operates in the Philippines in a joint venture with San Miguel Corp. More than JPY 7 billion (USD 62.2 million) will be invested to increase the bottle output capacity of San Miguel Yamamura Asia Corp. by 140%. A second building will be constructed for a new furnace capable of melting 91,000 tons of glass a year. This will increase the firm“s total melting capacity to 157,000 tons a year. The extra capacity will be used to make beer bottles for the growing domestic market and also to expand sales in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia.
