The largest summer market attendance in the history of the New York International Gift Fair was reported at the 137th semi-annual event, which welcomed over 46,000 buyers from across the US and around the world, according to Geoge Little Management (GLM), organizers of the Fair. Among the 2,577 exhibitors, 150 first-time exhibitors introduced their products during the market, which offered a broad assortment of resources and again saw a continued interest in gifts and accessories for the home. The total buyer attendance was reported at 46,182, while 2,577 companies exhibited at the Fair over 588, 589 net square feet. “The high level of energy and excitement was apparent during the five days of the Fair,” said Leslie Nathan-Street, vice president and show manager. “In line with our strong attendance, many exhibitors reported record sales, creating a positive environment as we head into the millennium.” Eighteen foreign governments sponsored pavilions and over 70 independent international exhibitors demonstrated their strong support in this major US market, according to GLM. Countries which exhibited at the Fair were: Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands and the UK. The 138th edition of the semi-annual New York International Gift Fair, the nation“s largest gift and accessories market, will be held on 22-27 January 2000 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 88, 90 and 92. As usual, the Fair will feature ten divisions: Accent on Design, At Home, General Gift, Just Kidstuff, The Museum Source, Handmade, Tabletop and Homewares, Personal Acessories, New & Distinctive Resources and Floral & Garden Accessories.
