Rexam plc, the global consumer packaging company, announced on 23 July the appointment of William R. Barker as president and CEO, Rexam Beverage Can Americas, leading Rexam“s beverage can operations in North and South America, as of 1 August 2001. He takes over from Lars Emilson, who will return to London and resume his duties as Group Director, Rexam Beverage Cans. Bill joins Rexam Beverage Can Americas from Chicago-based Commercial Solutions Group of Textron Fastening Systems where he was president. This US$ 900 million business is a supplier to the automotive, electronic, aerospace and construction industries. Prior to that, he was president of OEA Automotive Safety Products headquartered in Denver, CO. Bill is a resident of Lake Forest, Ill. He attended the University of Colorado where he received his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1971 and his MBA in 1978.
