Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro has withdrawn her application for USD 2 million federal funding to help Naugatuck-based Flabeg Solar U.S. Corp., the former Naugatuck Glass Co., just two months after she vowed to help the glass manufacturing company form a partnership with the University of Connecticut and create about 80 jobs. Upon reviewing the proposal, DeLauro realized that the application would primarily benefit Flabeg, thus violating a House Appropriations Committee ban on earmarks for private entities, DeLauro stated in a news release. “We had been under the impression that it would primarily benefit the University of Connecticut, and that is not the case,” the release stated.
