9 April 1998: The Conference and Exhibition Management Services (CEMS) said that Myanmar is attracting more foreign investment and trading freely with its member nations and the rest of the world, now that it has become a full member of the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN). “In view of Myanmar“s economic progress, CEMS had launched the 1st Myanmar Show in 1994. And we are proud to inform you that the highly acclaimed Myanmar Building Materials, Construction Machinery and Hardware Expo is back into its 5th presentation in 1998,” said Lawrence Ang, the exhibition manager. The conference will be held in Tatmadaw Convention Centre, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma) on 9-12 June 1998. The last event, which was held from 17 to 20 June 1997, hosted some 120 exhibitors from 18 countries and attracted 7,300 visitors. CMS said the Centre will include two new national pavilions from both Singapore and Thailand, which will occupy some 400 sq. m. of net exhibit space.
