Indonesia“s PT Mulia Industrindo, a producer of ceramic tiles and glass, said recently that it booked a net profit of Rp 126.21 billion during the first half of the year, swinging from a net loss of Rp 383.96 billion a year earlier. The company said that it booked foreign exchange gains of Rp 83.64 billion for the period, compared to loss of Rp 493.14 billion a year earlier due to the rupiah“s appreciation against the US dollar. The company didn“t comment on its first half performance. The company“s gross profit, net sales minus costs of goods sold, however, fell to Rp 169.73 billion from Rp 199.68 billion, a 15% fall, as the increase in the costs of goods sold outstripped the increase in net sales.
