Czech glassworks Moravske Sklarny in Kvetna laid off the 80 employees, who received a notice at the end of February 2002, on 18 March 2002, the company said. The glassworks closed down two of the three ovens and as a result the number of employees decreased to 250 from the initial 450 people. Crystalex, in Novy Bor, is the owner of Moravske Sklarny. The Labour Office Uherske Hradiste has opened an office in Kvetna and will accept applications for work mediation from 20 March 2002, the council“s director Richard Janicek said.
