Eight companies, mostly from South Moravia, have submitted bids in a public tender for glassworks Moravske sklarny Kvetna, South Moravia, CTK was told by Jaroslav Kopac of Knight Frank which called the tender and represents Crystalex Novy Bor, owner of the glassworks. “Bids were placed by Czech firms but we do not rule out that some foreign firms are behind them,” Kopac added. Knight Frank will now assess the bids and by 10 March will let the bidders know its opinion. Kopac added the decisive factors will be, besides the offered price, also maintaining production in Kvetna and the business plan. CTK found out that bids were placed by Kinoexport Strani, CK Produkt Uherske Hradiste and Olomoucka investorska. The glassworks is owned by Crystalex, which in November last year announced it would dismiss all the 450 staff and wind down production. The decision raised protests of the workforce and Crystalex agreed to call a public tender.
