Italian company Glass Galone Special will invest EUR 2 million (USD 2.6 million) in 2009 to start production of glass bottles in Valkanes, one of Moldova“s six free economic zones, the country“s Economy Ministry said on 24 February 2009. The company, registered in the Valkanes free economic zone, will invest the money in production equipment and in the construction of facilities on a one hectare site, the ministry said in a statement. The project will create 40 jobs. Glass Galone Special expects the net sales of the new production unit to reach up to EUR 4.0 million per year. It will sell some 30% of its output in Moldova and will export to Russia, Ukraine and EU countries, the ministry said. The Valkanes free economic zone is located 200 km southwest of Moldovan capital Chisinau.
