A new type of glazing which dramatically improves acoustic insulation has been developed by New Zealand building materials manufacturer Magic Seal. The development project was backed financially through grants from Technology New Zealand, and involved researchers from the University of Canterbury. The Christchurch-based company found that layered panels of glass and thermal plastic had different noise-reduction properties which, when combined, outperformed traditional double glazing.
