LISMA, a leading Russian lighting engineering producer, plans to put over US$ 20 million into two projects. The company plans to produce fibre optics for the cable industry, a product not presently being manufactured in Russia. LISMA plans to produce one million kilometres of the fibre per year with production scheduled to get underway in the closing quarter of this year. Plans are also underway to produce glass bottles for distilleries using vacuum or press glass blowing methods. The new enterprise will have a capacity of 120 million bottles annually and is expected to go into production in 2002.
