18 February 1999: Lattimer Engineering Limited of Southport, UK has acquired West Yorkshire Engineers (WYE) from Administrative Receivership. Both Lattimer and the UK-based WYE manufacture spare parts and variable equipment for IS glass container forming machines. Part of the engineering group, Hampson Industries Plc, Lattimer has a sister company in the glass industry, IS Parts International Inc. of Vineland, New Jersey (US). “West Yorkshire Engineers has enjoyed an excellent reputation for quality and flexibility,” said Steven Waterhouse, managing director of Lattimer. “We saw the opportunity extend to our product range and market share and with the combined experience of Lattimer, IS Parts and WYE, we can give a better service to our customers in the glass industry”. Waterhouse said that WYE“s range of products complements the activities of Lattimer/IS Parts. He added that WYE“s financial difficulties were brought about by the rapid expansion of its subsidiary foundry businesses. “WYE has traditionally been a successful organization and, now that it has divested itself of the subsidiary companies, we can concentrate on the core business of spare parts and mechanisms for the glass container industry. It is also important that we offer WYE“s customers continuity of service and, therefore, WYE will retain its own identity.”
