Lalique, the French luxury goods house, will open its new boutique at 712 Madison Avenue in October. Located in a landmark five-story building, the new 3000 square foot space will serve as Lalique“s American flagship. The 712 Madison Avenue location will be the fifth and largest boutique to open in the US, supplanting the previous boutique at 680 Madison Avenue. Encased in dramatic black granite, the Masque de Femme and Coutard panels, originally created by Ren Lalique in 1935, will grace the facade of the boutique. Conceptualized by French architect Jean-Luc Sanglier, and created by American architect John Borrelli, the new boutique conveys the history of Lalique, as well as the unrivalled status of Madison Avenue as one of the premier shopping streets in the US. “The New York boutique has always been one of our most important locations, reflecting all of the prestige of Madison Avenue,” said Gerard Tavenas, chairman, Lalique SA. “We are delighted to expand our presence there and create a totally unique Lalique environment, from the storefront to the lifestyle presentation”. The new boutique will be the only one in the US with two stories of retail space. The first story will be dedicated to Lalique“s objets d“art, stemware, jewellery, fragrance and accessories. The second story will feature a “Lalique Lifestyles” presentation. This section will feature an office, boudoir, living room and library. “The flagship boutique allows us to present the full range of Lalique products in an environment that reflects both our heritage and our growth,” said Yves Coleon, president, Lalique North America. “For example, the new store will carry our furniture collection, which has not been available in the US until this point. It is an ideal opportunity to showcase the future of Lalique”.
