23 April 1998: Pochet, the perfume and bottle manufacturer of France, has announced a 19.5% increase in 1997 net profits to FFr 129 miilon on sales up 12%, or a net margin of 7.5%. Pochet“s original activity, perfume bottle manufacturing, which represents 60% of its turnover (FFr 1 billion out of a total FFr 1.7 billion), reportedly continued to suffer from the stagnation of the French market. Crystal manufacturing subsidiary Lalique registered a positive 1997, returning to profit, with operating profits of FFr 17.5 million, against losses of FFr 2.8 million in 1996. Plastic components unit Qualipac, for its part, registered 1997 profits of FFr 24 million, after posting a loss of FFr 3 million the previous year. The current financial year began with a rise in first-quarter turnover in all three areas of activity: 15% for bottling, 20% for Lalique and 35% for Qualipac.
