Most of the assets of the recently closed L.E. Smith Glass Co. of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania have been bought by a Pittsburgh businessman, who plans to restart the business after he buys the building and land at a Westmoreland County sheriff“s sale in February 2005. William A. Kelman did not say how much he paid in the second week of January 2005 for the company“s equipment, inventory, machinery and receivables. “We have some exciting times ahead of us. L.E. Smith has top-tier clients who are delighted that we will once again be producing for them,” Kelman said. “The order book is strong and getting stronger.” Kelman formed a new company, Port Augustus Glass Co. LLC, to buy L.E. Smith“s assets.
