Polish glass-manufacturing group Krosno plans to employ several hundred extra workers by the end of the year. Jan Kurkus, CEO of Krosno, said the large number of orders meant the company would have to increase production capability. He also added that the Group would end 2002 with significantly better results that in 2001, when it generated a PLN 3 million net profit. In 2001, several glassworks within the group generated a loss, thus reducing the consolidated figures. This year they all made profit, and, in addition, an upturn was observed in exports, particularly to the US, UK and Russia. Krosno also plans to strengthen its position on the domestic market further by introducing a new distribution system.
