Krones, German manufacturers of machinery and equipment for packaging, has plans to sell equipment for recycling PET plastic bottles in Brazil. Krones commercial director Rogerio Baldauf said at the end of February that in Brazil some 255,000 tons of PET bottles are discarded each year. Of that total, only 26% are recycled, and the greatest part are reutilized in the production of polyester fibers, used in the textile industry. With the project, the company wants the PET to be reutilized in the production of food packaging.
