Acoustical Solutions, Inc. will use Knauf Insulation“s Ecose brand fiberglass in its AudioSeal sound blanket line. This new green fibreglass, which is actually brown in colour, will help projects that meet green building standards. Ecose Fiberglass, which is 100% recyclable and contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled bottled glass, is manufactured from naturally occurring and/or recycled raw materials and bonded using a bio-based technology. It is free from formaldehyde, and is 70% less energy intensive than traditional petroleum-based bonding agents. The AudioSeal Sound Blanket line combines sound absorption and noise barrier materials, offering maximum noise reduction on any application. AudioSeal Sound Blankets are available in an absorber only, with a sound-blocking barrier backing or barrier septum configuration. Audioseal Sound Blankets offer a combination of both sound absorption and sound blocking thanks to the use of a variety of quilted fiberglass absorbers and flexible noise barriers. Sound Blankets can be used in many application types, and can be custom sized and supplied with track systems for indoor sound enclosures, or custom cut for various OEM manufacturing applications. They can also be used outdoors for environmental noise control for construction sites and community noise problems, and have been used in many high profile settings including Boston“s Big Dig and the rebuilding of the twin towers in New York City. David Ingersoll, sales manager, Acoustical Solutions, Inc. said Out of all of the enhancements we have made to our line of AudioSeal Sound Blankets over the last 20 years, including the launch of the EXT, an exterior grade version, earlier last year, this is the one that I am most excited about. It is easy to say that you want to be more environmentally friendly or conscious, but when you can take an existing product and change it for the better for the environment without sacrificing any of the existing acoustical ratings, fire ratings, etc. and without increasing the costs to your customers, you really are accomplishing something of true value.
