Finnish chemicals group Kemira has increased its stake in the Chinese water treatment chemicals producer Kemwater from 60% to 89% by buying the 29% stake of the Chinese water-chemicals producer Yixing Purifying Agent Plant on 16 October 2001. Kemira has not disclosed the purchase price. Kemwater started operations in 1999 in Yixing, southeastern China. The company has a turnover of about Euro 4.0 million for 2001 and employs 140 people. The remaining 11% in Kemwater is held by the Finnish industrial financing agency Finnfund. Kemwater“s main products are inorganic coagulants like polyaluminium chloride and ferric chloride used for waste-water and drinking water handling.
