Bulgarian mineral producer Kaolin AD is to invest EUR 15 million into upgrading its four plants and building new production facilities, the company said. Kaolin, which produces silica sand, calcinated kaolin, chamotte, feldspar, dolomite and limestone, intends to raise the group output capacity to four million tonnes per annum. The company plans to complete a new silica sand factory in Devnya by the end of 2005. The BGL 3 million plant will have an initial annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes. Kaolin is also expanding the operation of its sand and lime factories in Serbia. The company has spent EUR 2.5 million so far on the acquisition and modernisation of two Serbian plants. Kaolin produced 1.5 million tonnes of industrial minerals in 2004. Net profit was BGL 3.13 million and is seen up by 50% in 2005. Revenue increased 32.3% to BGL 60.82 million in 2004 and is seen as reaching BGL 70 million in 2005.
