Kansai Research Institute develops flexible glass material

Japanese Kansai Research Institute, Inc. in Kyoto, central Japan, a subsidiary of city gas supplier Osaka Gas Co. Ltd., has developed a new flexible glass material, the company said on 29 July 2002.

Japanese Kansai Research Institute, Inc. in Kyoto, central Japan, a subsidiary of city gas supplier Osaka Gas Co. Ltd., has developed a new flexible glass material, the company said on 29 July 2002. The flexibility of the ultra thin glass is twice higher, compared to the conventional glass, and its heat resistance reaches 300C. The new material is to be widely used in the production of electroluminescent and liquid crystal displays and is to enter the market by the autumn of 2004, Kansai Research added.
