The deadline for offers for the Jordan Glass Industries (JGI) plant in Maan in the south of the country has been extended to 15 February. The facility includes a 60,000-square-metre sheet glass factory and utilities including a power station and water supply system. The plant made consistent losses from 1984, when it first began production, until it closed in 1993. Since then, its largest shareholder, the Jordan Investment Corporation, has been involved in negotiations with a number of potential investors. JGI went into receivership in March 1996, with accumulated losses of JD 18.7 million (US$ 26.4 million). Those interested in buying JGI will be required to take over the plant as a complete package and resume operations.
