Global building products manufacturer, Johns Manville (JM), has introduced JM ocSPF low-density polyurethane open-cell spray foam insulation. Recommended for walls, floors, unvented and vented attics and ceilings, JM ocSPF insulation can, says the company, insulate cavities of any shape, creating a seamless protective air barrier that minimizes or eliminates air leakage for maximum building envelope performance. JM ocSPF insulation, which is, at a thickness of 3.5 inches, considered an air impermeable insulation, is mold- and mildew resistant, minimizes sound transmission and provides an R-value of 3.8 at 1, R-13 at 3.5 and R-19 at 5.5. JM ocSPF insulation can be applied at up to 6 per pass and, when properly installed, the product expands 120 times its initial volume, sealing all voids, gaps and crevices. Moreover, JM ocSPF insulation is formulated with 100% reactive catalysts to minimize emissions during spraying, resulting in lower jobsite odour and improved safety for installers. JM also introduces JM IB Coating, an intumescent ignition barrier coating recommended for use with JM ocSPF insulation in unvented attic and crawl space applications. At a minimum application rate of 0.6 gallons per 100 sq.ft., JM IB Coating is an effective ignition barrier for JM ocSPF insulation. We“re excited to announce the expansion of our spray foam product line with the launch of JM ocSPF insulation, said Mike Lawrence, vice president and general manager for JM“s Insulation Systems business. We“re introducing JM ocSPF insulation with our customers in mind. Now, JM customers can order both fiberglass insulation and closed- and open-cell foam efficiently from one manufacturer, and with the reassurance that they are receiving quality products from Johns Manville. What“s more, similar to our premium closed-cell product, JM Corbond III spray foam insulation, JM ocSPF insulation can be installed together with any of JM“s fiberglass building insulation products to create systems that meet the demands of any project, said Lawrence. Introduced in 2009, JM Corbond III insulation is a premium high-yield closed-cell spray foam insulation product, which can be used alone or in hybrid systems to create customized insulation systems for residential, commercial and industrial applications, providing 5,000 to 5,200 board feet of coverage per set.
