On 19 May, Vladimir Vesely, an executive of the Czech Republic“s Sklarska Surovina glass firm said that the National Property Fund (FNM) is to sell 54.4% of the North Bohemian Jizerske Sklo glassmaker to Sklarska, which associates 20 glass and costume jewellery producers. The company was established last year. Jizerske Sklo welcomes the change in ownership because it has been open to privatisation since 1992, without any results. Jizerske Sklo exports 15% of its production abroad, and 85% represents semi-finished goods for other glassmakers. Last year the firm recorded a net profit of Kc 205,000 on a turnover of Kc 128 million. In the future, the company plans to move away from the production of costume jewellery and extend the production of technical and chemical glass.
