The Czech Republic“s Jihlavske Sklarny Bohemia (JSB), a joint stock company, plans total sales of Kcs 580 million this year, which is on a similar level as last year, when the sales totalled Kcs 570 million, company“s financial manager Jan Lexa said. The JSB management expects that this year the company will show a profit of about Kcs 10 million. “Last year we showed a loss of about Kc40m which was caused by the costly building of our own foreign trade network and sale of products from 1997 at reduced prices,” said Lexa. In 1997 JSB terminated co-operation with Skloexport Liberec, which provided exportation of company“s products, due to its financial problems and breaking of payment obligations. “The volume of goods, which remained in stores due to the collapse of foreign trade, amounted to about Kcs 125 million. Currently we sell these older products for about half their previous price,” said Lexa. JSB processes 32 tons of lead glass daily, which ranks it among leading Czech glass works. Most of its production is exported, mainly to Great Britain, Ireland, the US and Japan. The company originated after the state-owned company Sklarny Bohemia Podebrady was privatised, and now employs 1,150 people and has share capital of Kcs 207 million. JSB“s majority shareholder is Bohemia Crystal Jihlava, a joint stock company. JSB shares are not publicly tradeable.
