Costume jewellery producer Jablonex found its largest market in the US last year, having sold goods worth Kcs 342 million, or 19% of its total exports there, according to Jablonex“s marketing director Milan Kohout. Jablonex, the largest Czech exporter of fashion accessories, generated a Kcs 12 million profit on Kcs 2.16 billion sales in 1999. “Exports to Russia are minimal,” said Kohout. “Ever since the crisis two years ago, we have been selling there very little,” Kohout said, adding that it is one of the key targets of the company to boost exports to Russia this year. In September, the company is to present a new collection in Moscow called Jablonex 2000, which was recently presented in New York. Jablonex, which currently accounts for 60% of total Czech exports of accessories (except glass stones), has customers in more than 90 countries. Recently, the company entered retail chains in the US and Germany. Some 60% of shares are owned by Jablonex Holding, comprising the four major producers of costume jewellery including Bizuterie Ceska Mincovna, Ornela, Zeleznobrodske sklo and Preciosa.
