Window-maker J.E. Berkowitz L.P., of Westville, New Jersey said 16 June 2006 it will build a USD 25 million plant at the new Gateway Business Park, Pedricktown, New Jersey. The company, with about 220 employees, will move to the new facility in 2007, according to a Berkowitz statement. Groundbreaking was scheduled for 20 June 2006. “We had no ability to expand further in the current location”, company president Arthur Berkowitz said. Privately held Berkowitz posted sales for 2005 in excess of USD 40 million. The company moved to Westville from Philadelphia in 1970. The new plant will make possible a 50% increase in production, the company said. High-profile work has included major contracts at Lincoln Financial Field, the Wachovia Center, the National Constitution Center, the Independence Visitor Center, the Liberty Bell Pavilion, and Children“s Hospital of Philadelphia.
