The Isover division of Saint-Gobain Cristalera has completed construction of a new glass wool line at its facilities in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara). The EUR 50 million line will double production capacity at the glass wool plant from 30,000 to 60,000 tonnes. It was originally intended that the investment, planned two years ago, would cater to the heavy demand for insulation on the Spanish market, primarily for the residential sector, with the goal of reducing imports from the various group plants in France. However, the current situation means that most of the products made on the new line are being targeted at foreign markets. In addition to these two lines, the Isover factory in Azuqueca also has rock wool production capacity of 40,000 tonnes. The division posted sales of about EUR 100 million in 2008, with 60% of its revenue from sales of rock wool, 31% from glass wool and the remaining 9% from other insulation products. Seventy percent of its revenue came from the construction sector. Isover, with a staff of 250 employees, has a market share of 9.1% in the domestic market for insulation and 37.5% in the mineral wool market (54% glass wool and 23% and rock wool). Globally, Isover registered turnover of EUR 2.5 billion in the same period, from a total of 37 production plants.
