1 April 1999: New from Japanese firm Ishizuka Glass is Ion-pure, an inorganic antimicrobial which is effective in a variety of engineering plastics and general-purpose resins. According to a recent report, the metal (zinc, copper or silver) ion-impregnated controlled release glass will maintain transparency and will not discolour with age. It will inhibit enzyme activity, remaining stable at temperatures up to 500 degrees Celsius.
