On 10 November 2010, IRICO Group Electronics Co. Ltd. started construction on a photovoltaic glass base in Hefei, Anhui Province. The company, which is mainly active in the manufacture and trading of colour picture tubes or CPTs for coloured television sets, will start operations at the end of 2011 with an investment of CNY 1.98 billion. At that time, the base will have an annual PV glass output capacity of 42.12 million sq.m. and a total capacity of 39.18 million sq.m. of reinforced glass and reflective glass, which will be the components of 5.5 gigawatts of solar cells. On 19 October, one of the firm“s PV glass production lines started operation in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province. According to the president of the Hong Kong-listed firm, Zhang Junhua, IRICO will build ten of these production lines in the city with an annual output capacity totalling 3,000 sq.m. in the next three years.
