For the month of May 1997, the Polish glassmaker Huta Szkla Gospodarczego Irena SA recorded a net profit of Zl 0.58 million as compared to Zl 0.28 million for the same month last year. Net sales for May were Zl 5.67 million this year against the Zl 3.78 million last year. From January to May this year, on net sales of Zl 25.54 million the glassmaker generated a net profit of Zl 3.28 million, an increase on last year, which for the same period saw net sales of Zl 21.01 million and a net profit of ZL 2.36 million. Irena plans no dividend for 1996 and wants to set aside most of last year“s Zl 6.5 million net for reserve capital, the firm recently said. It said in a statement that the firm“s general shareholders meeting would vote on setting aside Zl 6.47 million from the 1996 net for reserve capital and the rest for various bonuses.
