Asahi Glass Co. announced it has sold Indian subsidiary Indo-Asahi Glass Co., a maker of home-use sheet glass, to a major glass manufacturer in India. Asahi Glass sold its shares in the subsidiary, corresponding to 39.7% of outstanding shares, to the local maker for about 31 million yen. Indo-Asahi Glass, established in 1956, recorded sales of 1.73 billion yen for the fiscal year ended December 1998 and posted an operating loss of 120 million yen.
