India“s Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has reportedly initiated anti-dumping investigations into soda ash imports from China, the EU, Kenya, Pakistan, Iran, Ukraine and the US, following a petition filed by the domestic producers“ association – Alkali Manufacturers“ Association of India. The probe regards disodium carbonate – soda ash – with the chemical formula Na2CO3. The Alkali Manufacturers“ Association of India, with information regarding costing and damage from GHCL Ltd, DCW, Nirma and Saurashtra Chemicals Ltd. has supplied details on diverse parameters, also supplying evidence regarding damages as a result of the alleged dumping, such as: fall in production, capacity utilization, profits, return on investments, cash flow, market share and significant price undercutting and price underselling from the subject countries. The period of investigation goes from April 2009 to March 2010, while the injury investigation also covers 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09.
