The Indian glass industry, which has companies such as Saint-Gobain Glass, Gujarat Guardian and Asahi India Glass as its major float glass producers, is facing a decline in demand and excess supply. The market for architectural glass declined by 3% in the January-June period of 2009, while demand for high-end products declined due to the delay in the implementation of large projects. Moreover, a number of companies are setting up additional capacities with high level of debt.
