Taiwanese packaging manufacturer Hwa Hsia Glass recently reached a formal joint investment agreement with the local government of Fengyang County, in China“s Anhui province and will invest over USD 100 million in the locality, according to a Chinese government website. It is the largest investment in glass manufacturing in the province to date. Fengyang is a manufacturing base in China for superior quartz sand and glass. Traditionally dubbed the city of glass, Fengyang“s deposits and product grades are ranked first in eastern China, with a projected deposit potential of over 10 billion tons. Quartz mining and glass manufacturing have already been incorporated into Anhui“s 11th five-year plan.
