HNG group has reportedly started its entry into the float glass segment by setting up its first float furnace at Halol in Gujarat, according to a statement from the company at the end of November 2009. The HNG group is on a high growth path through strategic diversifications. Our foray into the float glass segment is to further expand our horizons in the glass industry, said Mukul Somany, joint managing director of HNG . The first set of production is expected to be ready by the end of December 2009, he added. HNG aims to capture up to 25% share of the float glass market in the next two years, starting with a daily production of 600 tonnes, and also has plans for a second float line to produce a further 850 tonnes per day. The company, which has a 60% market share in the container glass business, forecasts a second float line at the plant, to produce an additional 850 tonnes a day.
