German company Heye-Glass plans to build a 23-million euro glass container factory in Uzbekistan“s Tashkent region, the Uzplodovoshchvinprom company official told Prime-TASS on 11 March. The construction of the factory is to begin in the second half of this year and be completed by the end of 2003. The factory will supply goods to the domestic Uzplodovoshchvinprom food company. The official said that the project is to be financed by loans from German banks worth EUR 20 million, under the guarantees of Uzbekistan“s government. Uzplodovoshchvinprom will provide the rest of the funds. The factory will produce several dozen different glass containers – for canned vegetables, alcoholic beverages and mineral water – the official said. Annual output, most of which will be exported to neighboring countries in Central Asia, is planned at 124.7 million units, he added.
