Hansom International Glass PLC inaugurated its new flat glass factory on 19 May 2009. The factory has already started trial production and is capable of producing 42,000 tonnes of glass per year, as well as recycling used glass. Joint shareholders in the company, with a registered capital of USD 16 million, are CGC Overseas Construction Group Ltd. and China-Africa Development Fund. Hansom“s deputy general manager Jason Jiang was reported as saying the company would also export glass to the east African region. Raw materials such as dolomite, feldspar, silica sand and limestone are sourced locally, while sodium carbonate is imported from China.
