Australia“s Gwalia Consolidated Ltd. said that its earnings for the second half of the financial year ended 30 June 1997 will be below previous forecasts. Increased costs and international price competition have led the company to now forecast a net profit of between A$ 8 million and A$ 10 million in the year to 30 June 1997. Gwalia also said that its preliminary outlook for 1997-98 will be affected.
