Flat glass processor Guardian Navarra, S.L. has allocated EUR 25 million to the rebuilding of the melting furnace at its Tudela (north-east Spain) plant, out of action since 19 October 2006. The repair work has been started following an agreement with the Navarra regional government. The company had considered not repairing the furnace and ceasing production at the Tudela plant because of the high cost of the work. Since the furnace broke down, workers at the 600-tonnes-per-day-plant have been limited to processing glass already in stock. Until the furnace returns to service, probably in February 2007, the Tudela plant will continue processing glass from other group facilities.
