Guardian Industries Corp., a global leader in the glass, automotive and building products industries, began production in mid-July at its newest float glass plant in Czestochowa, Poland. Also, the company announced that it is considering adding state-of-the-art coating operations at the new facility. Guardian CEO and President William Davidson joined Wieseaw Maras, the mayor of Czestochowa, Marek Stolzman, 1st deputy voivode of the Silesia region and Grzegorz Lipowski, senator of the Polish Republic, MP, along with customers and contractors at a ribbon-pulling ceremony to mark the occasion. Guardian now has 21 float lines worldwide: seven are in Europe. Guardian built its newest plant in just 13 months with an electrical substation, natural gas pipeline and railway connection. Guardian invested EUR 120 million in the Czestochowa facility, which will employ approximately 200 people, run 24 hours seven days a week and produce some 700 tons of quality float glass daily.
