Guardian Fiberglass said 13 January 2005 it plans to put USD 26.5 million into its Albion, Texas plant and create up to 150 jobs, making it the city“s largest manufacturer. “We were convinced by quite a number of people this was the best place to do business,” Guardian Group Vice President Peter Walters said at a news conference. The Auburn Hills company had been considering expanding a plant in Texas, The Jackson Citizen Patriot reported. In June 2004, Governor Jennifer Granholm offered Guardian a USD 1.6 million single-business tax credit and the Albion city council has offered tax rebates. Walters said the company hopes to finish the expansion by the middle of 2006. Production is expected to double at the plant, which currently has a workforce of 275.
