Imparting technical training and research work by Pakistan“s Glass Products Design and Manufacturing Centre (GPDMC) is a good thing for the glass industry and will create new jobs, reducing Pakistan“s net import bill. Praising the initiative of Federal Ministry of Industries and Production in collaboration with Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA), Seth Goharullah the president of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), expressed these views while addressing a recent meeting of board of directors of GPDMC. Goharullah said that after installation of machinery and construction of a furnace at GPDMC, Indian glassmaking experts would be contacted to train local artisans. Goharullah informed that glass products were currently being imported from France, Germany, China and India to meet local demand. He added that once the local skill was developed with the help of GPDMC imports of these products would be brought down to a great extent.
