The final deadline for submitting abstracts for GPD China 2010, to be held in Beijing 2-3 June 2010, is less a week away – 20 January 2010. All those who wish to make a presentation at the conference are, therefore, kindly requested to submit their abstract(s) before or by the deadline next week. Several abstracts have already been received and are under review at present. Notification of accepted or rejected abstracts will be sent soon after the deadline. Abstracts should be submitted (max. 150 words per abstract) as email attachments to brown.onduso@gpd.fi. The proposed topics and more information about the event can be found in the call for papers brochure at www.gpd.fi. The fast growth being experienced in South America is offering many new possibilities to the whole glass industry including suppliers and designers. The significance of this market area has also been boosted since the 2016 Olympics games will be held in Brazil. It is for these reasons that the first edition of Glass Performance Days South America (GPD SAME) will be held in So Paulo, Brazil on 6-7 May 2010, in conjunction with the Glass South America Exhibition. The event is expected to attract participants (including speakers) from different parts of the world. The Glass Technology, Solar & Design theme has been selected to enable discussions to review the current and critical topics needed to enhance the steadily growing glass and solar industries in the region. For more information, please review the call for papers brochure or contact GPD Chairman Jorma Vitkala via email (jorma.vitkala@gpd.fi) or phone +358 40 553 2042. Abstracts should be submitted directly via email to Vitkala by 30 January 2010. Jorma Vitkala will also participate in the World Future Energy Summit Event to be held in Abu Dhabi 18-21 January 2010, and will be available for discussions and meetings.
