Glaverbel of Belgium and the Moscow region government signed an agreement on 8 April 2003 to build a glass factory in Klin. The ceremony was attended by the deputy head of the Moscow region government, Alexander Gornostaev and Glaverbel-Klin director Filipp Demidov. Investment in the factory will surpass USD 100 million, said Arthur Ulens, the general director of the Glaverbel group. The project will be implemented in three phases: phase one will see the construction of capacity to produce 600 tonnes of polished glass per day; phase two will be the building of mirror production facilities with an annual capacity of 5 million sq meters and phase three will involve the setting up of insulated glass production. The plant is expected to open in 2005.
