Belgian glassmaker Glaverbel Group posted a net profit of EUR 131.1 million for 2001, up 31% year-on-year, 25 on February 2002. The company“s 2001 turnover was EUR 1.8 billion, a 7.0% year-on-year increase. The group“s consolidated earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) are EUR 234.5 million in 2001, a 26% year-on-year increase. The net profit per share reached EUR 20.46. The company“s board of directors will propose a EUR 4.14 per share dividend, a 10% year-on-year increase. The company“s management made no comment on the buying offer made by Japanese glass manufacturer Asahi Glass for the remaining 45% stake in Glaverbel that Asahi does not yet own.
