Increasing environmental awareness in combination with energy efficiency and top quality of end products are guiding stars for Glaston“s product development projects. One of the innovations to meet this demand is Glaston“s Tamglass FC500TM tempering line. Compared to traditional tempering lines, the Tamglass FC500TM offers even 40% more production capacity of energy efficient glass with 30% less energy consumption. The new tempering line, equipped with the quality measuring system iLooKTM, represents the latest technology in the glass processing industry. The energy efficiency of the FC500TM is based on a circulated air system with very precise and efficient heat transfer. Because of the circulated air system, large convection compressors are no longer needed and the heating of cold compressed air is not necessary. Furthermore, the faster production speed of coated, energy efficient glass enhances the use of chiller section thus decreasing the energy consumption considerably. As an example of savings, with the low-E glass production, the annual energy savings is on average 200 000 kWh, or over EUR 10.000 per year. Glaston“s product development is based on customer and market needs. Energy efficiency, high capacity and quality are the key factors. FC500TM equipped with the online quality measurement system iLooKTM help our customers to take their operations to the next level, says Arto Metsnen, President and CEO, Glaston Corporation. A Glaston Tamglass FC500TM was inaugurated at glass processor Rakla“s factory in Tampere, Finland, on 4 February 2011. The FC500TM tempering furnace enables Rakla to provide glass solutions for extremely energy efficient windows, in which the anti-dew phenomenon is solved. Also, due to the increasingly bigger glass sizes, the requirements for the safety glass have grown. We have now even better possibilities to offer our customers quality solutions to enhance the energy efficiency of the buildings. The new quality control system guarantees, also visually, high quality products especially for coated, energy efficient glass, says Heikki Silfver, managing director of Rakla Tampere Oy.
