The first edition of the GlassExpo-Lasi 2006 Fair, to be held at the Turku Fair and Congress Center on 16 – 18 February is a unique event in Finland, say the organizers. Featuring domestic and overseas exhibitors, the fair has been commissioned by the Finnish Flat Glass Association in cooperation with The Finnish Glazier Association, The Finnish Association of Architects, the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT / Window Industry, and the Finnish Association of Furniture and Joinery Entrepreneurs. In addition to exhibition stands the event will also host high-level seminars. The Sustainable Faade seminar, held on the opening day of the Fair will deal with, among other issues, trends in architecture, with the participation of architect and academic Matti Rautiola of Tampere University of Technology. Themes will also include authenticity and sustainability in faade materials, faade renovation, rebuilding and conservation. At the conclusion of the seminar the Glass Construction of the Year will be announced. The Modern Glass Construction seminar will explore the possibilities of glass. In addition, the energy classification of windows, quality systems for glass construction and CE marking as well as strength calculations will be among topics covered at the seminar on Thursday, 16 February 2006.
